Schmolke Carbon

Schmolke Carbon Titan is the joint venture of the Schmolke twin brothers, Stefan and Matthias. As active racers on and off road, they have used their joined experience gathered over hundreds of races to pursue their vision of the ideal bicycle and components since 1993. Stefan, an engineer with a degree and an expert in modern materials, and Matthias is a teacher of physical education specialised in cycling. This is inevitably a fertile background for 'sports equipment' on the highest possible level of matters technical and biomechanical. The main target is obviously the shearing of weight, simply because less weight equals more miles per hour.

With Their titanium and Scandium line of frames they also prove that high quality does not necessarily mean high cost.

Stefan and Matthias believe that any mass production effectively rules out a product optimised to be used by a particular individual. Mass production always means compromise. Schmolke products are high-end; hence there will never be mass production. Therefor Schmolke remain flexible enough to individually cater for the needs of customers, manufacturing according to their personal demands.

As technical supervisor of production Stefan Schmolke has incorporated many ideas and materials to optimise weight and longevity of carbon handlebars, for example the midsections of many of Schmolke handlebars (Depending apon rider weight and use) have an aluminium sleeve to protect the carbon from being damaged by the stem.

With three models and two variations of each model, Stefan has shown the world that seemingly opposing goals such as safety and low weight don't necessarily rule each other out. Particularly if carbon fibre's tremendous potential is expertly exploited.
